Chief secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said the sports department shall create a separate quota for this purpose and send a requisition to the HSSC for a separate recruitment drive for eligible ESP to the tune of 3% of total Group C posts advertised by the commission in a given year. (HT File Photo)

Chief secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said the sports department shall create a separate quota for this purpose and send a requisition to the HSSC for a separate recruitment drive for eligible ESP to the tune of 3% of total Group C posts advertised by the commission in a given year. These quota posts will exist within few selected departments like home, sports and youth affairs, school education and elementary education. Thus, while the calculation of the number of such posts will be as 3% of total Group C posts advertised by the commission, these posts would be advertised only for a selected few departments, he said.

He said that within this 3 % quota for the ESP, the first preference will be given in Group C posts under a February 26, 2021, notification of the sports and youth affairs department called Outstanding Sportspersons (Group A, B, C) Service Rules, 2021.

The chief secretary said for the purpose of these instructions, the ESP means a sportsperson who has obtained a sports gradation certificate under the sports and youth affairs department.
