The deceased were identified as Krishan, 30, and Amar, 18, from Bhangal in Nangal in Punjab and Rajeever, 16, from Ludhiana.
The injured person, Lakhan, 31, also from Bhangal, has been admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. The victims worked as scrap dealers.
Police said the vehicle was on its way from Mehli to Solan.
Krishan, who was behind the wheel, lost control and the truck skidded off the road.
Shimla superintendent of police Sanjeev Gandhi said a rescue team of police personnel and firefighters reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the accident.
The rescue operation lasted two hours due to the steep slope. He said while the driver died on the spot, the two teenagers succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
The families of the deceased have been informed. A case of rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence has been registered.
