The deceased were identified Sarvan Sahani, a resident of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, and Nirmal Singh, a resident of Rajouri.

Injured pilgrim Sahib Sahani also hailed from Gorakhpur.

“Sarvan and Sahib worked as labourers in Katra town and had come to pay obeisance at the holy cave shrine at Shiv Khori. Following the incident, the pilgrimage was suspended for some time,” said a police officer.
