Himachal: De-addiction clinic service in 8 Kangra hospitals from June 15
The eight hospitals in the district where these services are being started include Zonal Hospital, Dharamshala, and the civil hospitals of Jwalamukhi, Kangra, Shahpur, Nurpur, Indora Fatehpur and Palampur
The Kangra district health authorities will launch de-addition clinic services in eight hospitals of the district from June 15.
Initially, these services will be available in these hospitals for two days every week, ie on Friday and Saturday from 2pm to 4pm.
Deputy commissioner Nipun Jindal said that in the first phase, the eight hospitals in the district where these services are being started include Zonal Hospital, Dharamshala, and the civil hospitals of Jwalamukhi, Kangra, Shahpur, Nurpur, Indora Fatehpur and Palampur.

The health institutions have trained doctors and staff to deal with de-addiction cases.
Besides, all medicines related to de-addiction have also been made available in these institutions.
In the second phase, this service will be extended to other hospitals of the district.
Jindal said that the district administration with the help of the health department has prepared a checklist for the inspection of drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres. The checklist will be shared with all SDMs so that they can observe the requirements during the inspection.
Work to install CCTV cameras in drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres in Kangra district has also been completed. They will be linked to police centres for real-time monitoring.
‘Samvad’ awareness-cum-education programmes in schools
The deputy commissioner said that the district administration will be launching Systematic Adolescent Management and Value Addition Dialogue (Samvad) programme against drugs in schools of the district soon.
Under the programme, educational and awareness activities related will be carried out according to a pre-decided schedule.
A special training workshop will be organised for officers and employees to implement the programme.
District police chief Shalini Agnihotri asked all sub-divisional magistrates to map the places, including abandoned buildings and secluded areas, which have become a safe haven for drug addicts, and share information with police so that constant vigil can be kept on such places.
