Ludhiana | Former Dy CM Randhawa calls CM’s remark on Ashu’s arrest ‘arrogant’
Randhawa said, “A CM should not make this type of comments and Ashu has been arrested in a fake case. Even the accused contractor Telu Ram submitted in the court that he never met Ashu. It is a political vendetta against Ashu and his innocence will be proved in the court.” Randhawa, former minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, among other Congress leaders, reached outside the vigilance office in Ludhiana on Thursday
Responding to chief minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann’s comment that former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu was arrested after Congress reached vigilance headquarters in Mohali and urged the government to arrest him, former deputy CM Sukhjinder Randhawa condemned the statement, alleging that it was full of arrogance.

Randhawa, former minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, among other Congress leaders, reached outside the vigilance office in Ludhiana on Thursday.
Randhawa said, “A CM should not make this type of comments and Ashu has been arrested in a fake case. Even the accused contractor Telu Ram submitted in the court that he never met Ashu. It is a political vendetta against Ashu and his innocence will be proved in the court.”
Congress leaders and workers have been camping outside vigilance department’s office since Ashu was arrested on Monday. They said they would continue to sit outside the office to show support for Ashu until his police remand ends.
Booked in an alleged food grains transportation tender scam, court had sent Ashu to police remand till August 27. The vigilance department suspects it to be a ₹2,000-crore scam.
Earlier on Wednesday, president of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Amrinder Singh Raja Warring had also slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for lodging a “fake case” against Ashu.
