The woman, who also claimed that she was threatened by her father-in-law, later shared her ordeal with her mother-in-law, who encouraged her to approach the Ludhiana police
A 24-year-old woman has accused her father-in-law of raping her for the last five months, police said on Thursday.

The woman, who also claimed that she was threatened by the accused, later shared her ordeal with her mother-in-law, who encouraged her to approach the police.
On the basis of the woman’s complaint, Jamalpur police have registered a first information report (FIR) against the accused.
The victim, a resident of Bhamian Kalan, mentioned in her statement to police that she had married in December 2017 and had a three-year-old son.
Her husband is an auto-rickshaw driver, who used to stay out of the house during the daytime, she added.
The woman told the police that her father-in-law had been raping her for the past five months.
The accused also warned her against disclosing about the sexual assault and threatened to kill her mother if she did, the victim said.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Dalvir Singh, who is investigating the case, said the FIR has been registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused at the Jamalpur police station.
A hunt is on to nab him, he added.
