The drive was initiated in residential and commercial areas in the aforementioned phases. Earlier this month, the Punjab and Haryana high court had summoned GMADA chief administrator Amandeep Bansal and municipal corporation commissioner Navjot Kaur on charges of contempt of court.

In September 2020, the court had asked the MC and GMADA to immediately remove encroachments on public paths, footpaths, open spaces, parks, corridors, streets and roads within the municipal limits. The court slammed the authorities for not getting the encroachments by influential persons removed.

A MC officer said that the drive would continue and take place across Mohali.
