Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Monday inked a Memorandum of Understanding) (MoU) with British Council to facilitate its students to develop English Language competencies to further their professional careers. MDU registrar Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja and director (north India) of British Council, India, Rashi Jain signed the MoU. Notably, this MoU will facilitate commencement of a value-added course on ‘English Language Competence for Everyday life and Professional Career’ under the aegis of British Council. This course will be of 45-hour duration.

Three attacked with sharp-edged weapons in Karnal
KARNAL
: Three youths were allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by a group of assailants in Taraori town of Karnal district. The police said the injured have been admitted to a private hospital and the condition of one of them is said to be critical. The residents of the locality told the police that the incident took place late at night on Sunday when a group of 10-12 people carrying sharp-edged weapons attacked them. Soon after getting the information about the incident, a police team reached the spot and the injured were rushed to the hospital. However, the police said they will record the statements of the injured for the registration of an FIR.
3 former Congress leaders return to party fold
Chandigarh
: Three former Haryana Congress leaders, including Sampat Singh, on Monday joined back the party in Chandigarh. The other two are former MLA from Narnaund Ram Bhagat Sharma and former MLA from Narnaul Radhe Shyam Sharma. CLP leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that these leaders are strong voices in their respective areas and will strengthen the party. State Congress president Udai Bhan said it was a happy moment as members of the family have come back home.
