Now, once a patient’s lab reports are ready, an intimation will be sent to their registered mobile phone numbers via SMS.
The text message will also contain a hyperlink to download the PDF file of the report for swift access to test results.
So far, patients either had to repeatedly check the status of their reports online or wait at various windows at the hospital, as well as queue up for printouts.
With the launch of the new facility, which is designed by PGIMER’s computer section, in collaboration with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Noida, patients will have access to reports from home and can plan their next visit at leisure.
“Ultimately, this will also lead to decongestion of hospital areas and optimal utilisation of the support staff,” said Dr Reena Das, head of hematology department and in-charge of the sample collection centre at the New OPD.
