Panchkula zila parishad elections: Big setback for BJP as loses in all 10 zila wards

Congress workers contested the Panckhkula zila parishad elections as independent candidates; out of 10 zila parishad posts in Panchkula, wards 1 to 3 are in Pinjore block, 4 and 5 in Morni block, 6 and 7 ward in Barwala and 8 to 10 ward in Raipur Rani block.

In a major setback for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), it lost all 10 wards in the Panchkula zila parishad elections, the results of which were declared on Sunday. The State Election Commission (SEC) also announced the results of the 42 Panchayat Samiti posts on the day.

Major parties, including BJP, Aam Aadmi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Indian National Lok Dal, had contested the zila parishad polls while Congress workers contested as independent candidates.

Out of 10 zila parishad posts in the district, wards 1 to 3 are in Pinjore block, 4 and 5 in Morni block, 6 and 7 ward in Barwala and 8 to 10 ward in Raipur Rani block. Similarly, out of the total 42 wards of panchayat samitis, 10 are in Barwala, 12 in Raipur Rani, 10 in Pinjore and 10 in Morni.

Zila parishad winners:

All seats went to independent candidates.

From ward number 1, Mandeep Singh won with 6,319 votes whereas Rajinder Singh clinched ward 2 with 4,239 votes. Monika Devi emerged victorious in ward 3 with 4,508 votes, Sunil Kumar won from ward 4 with 4,893 votes, Roma Devi from ward number 5 with 2,211 votes. Balwinder Singh won ward number 6 elections with 7,537 votes, Pooja Rani won from ward 7 with 4,116 votes whereas Bahadur Singh emerged victorious from ward 8 with with 2754 votes.

From ward 9, Mala Rani won with 3, 913 votes and Sudarshan Renu won from ward 10 with 4,520 votes.

Panchayat samiti results:

For the Panchayat Samiti posts from Morni block, the winners are Gulab Singh (ward 1), Anjana Sharma (ward 2), Kamal Singh (ward 3), Sonia Keshav (ward 4), Pratap Singh Thakur (ward 5), Nisha Devi (ward 6), Poonam Kumari (ward 7), Baldev Singh Rana (ward 8), Kusum Lata (ward 9) and Satpal (ward 10).

From Pinjore block, the winners are Ravikant Sharma (ward 1), Amarjit Singh (ward 2), Ranjana (ward 3), Ramkrishna (ward 4), Santosh Kaur (ward 5), Neha Devi (ward 6), Mandeep Chowdhary (ward 7), Paramjeet Kaur (ward 8), Pyara Lal (ward 9) and Promila Sharma (ward 10).

The winners from Barwala block are: Seema Rani (ward 1), Rajiv Rathore (ward 2), Shobha Rani (ward 3), Randeep Singh (ward 4), Geeta Rani (ward 5), Vinod Kumar (ward 6), Pinky (ward 7), Prince Kumar (ward 8), Geeta Rani (ward 9) and Suresh Kumar (ward 10).

From the Raipur Rani block, the winners are: Ani Kumar (ward 1), Reshma (ward 2), Mam Raj (ward 3), Nirmal Singh (ward 4), Ritu (ward 5), Satbir Singh (ward 6), Rajni Devi (ward 7), Manoj Kumar (ward 8), Baldevi (ward 9), Rita Devi (ward 10), Kamaldeep Sharma (ward 11) and Harpreet Kaur (ward 12).
