Posing as customers, three rob car in Kharar, arrested
On Sunday, the trio had visited a second-hand car dealer’s shop in Kharar’s GK Car Bazaar in the garb of customers and robbed a car after taking it out for a test drive
Acting swiftly, police have arrested three men who snatched a car dealer’s vehicle at knifepoint by posing as customers in Kharar on Sunday afternoon.

The accused have been identified as Abhi Jori and Salman, both residents of Burail village, Sector 45, Chandigarh; and Abishek Kumar, a native of Malout, Punjab, presently staying in Kharar. While the first two work for a CCTV company in Chandigarh, Abhishek works as a driver, police said.

“They inspected three vehicles and asked an employee, Pardeep Singh, for the test drive of a Honda Amaze car. Pardeep accompanied them for the test drive. When they reached near Landran, one of the accused flashed a knife and threatened Pardeep to get off from the car. Fearing for his life, Pardeep stepped out of the car and the trio fled with the car, following which the police were alerted,” said Rupinderdeep Kaur, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Kharar.
She said swinging into action, a police team led by inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO, Kharar City police station, arrested the three accused from Zirakpur on Monday, while they were planning to flee Mohali. The stolen car and the knife used in the crime were recovered from them, she said.
A case under Sections 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (acts done in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused. They were produced before a local court on Monday and sent to two-day police remand.
