Sub-inspector Harpreet Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Sarabha Nagar police station, said the 22-year-old student was stressed as she had to appear for an exam on Monday, for which she wasn’t fully prepared.

Police found that she had suffered a panic attack on August 5 and had gone to see a doctor at the PAU Hospital with a friend. After returning to the hostel, she had spoken to her parents over the phone. On August 6, she left the campus without informing anyone, following which her parents lodged a missing persons complaint

The body has been sent to the civil hospital for postmortem and no suicide note was recovered. Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 174 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

35-yr-old man’s body found near rly tracks

Government Railway Police on Monday recovered a 35-years-old man’s body near the railway tracks under Ladhowal Railway Bridge.

The deceased has been identified as Gurdev Singh of Qutabewal Araian, who worked as a labourer.

“The victim suffered two injuries, including one on the left arm and other on the left side of the forehead. The injuries and grease on his body clearly indicate that it was an accident. Nothing suspicious has been found yet and we have initiated inquest proceedings,” said a senior police officer. The officer added that things will get clearer after they receive his autopsy report.

As per sources, the Gurdev had left his house on Sunday after an argument with his family. He is survived by his parents, wife and two kids.
