Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann bats for concerted efforts to promote tourism in ‘kandi’ belt
Chairing a meeting of the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) here, the CM said that the state government is making efforts to develop areas around the Ranjit Sagar Dam, Shahpur Kandi Dam and Kandi areas of the Hoshiarpur district.
Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday directed the officers of the state government to make concerted efforts to promote tourism in the kandi belt of the state.
Chairing a meeting of the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) here, the CM said that the state government is making efforts to develop areas around the Ranjit Sagar Dam, Shahpur Kandi Dam and Kandi areas of the Hoshiarpur district.
These areas can be developed as ideal tourist destinations, Mann said.
He asked the officers to prepare a blueprint for the development of the region as a tourist attraction.
The CM said that the state government has already cleared the water adventure tourism policy for the promotion of water sports which can also be implemented here.
“The day is not far when this region becomes a hub of the tourists across the country, as a catalyst for taking Punjab on the map of international tourism,” he said.
