Punjab: One held with over 2kg heroin

Ferozepur police on Thursday booked and arrested an accused and recovered 2 kg 42 gm of heroin. Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Ferozepur, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, said that a police team was conducting routine patrol checks at Zira when it intercepted a suspect at the T-point near Muhammad Shah Wala village on the link road to Dibba Wala.

The accused was identified as Vijay Singh, a resident of Jalal Wala. A case under Section 21(C) of the NDPS Act was registered at Makhu police station.

“During questioning, the accused disclosed that he had procured the contraband from a known supplier on Cheharta Road, Amritsar,” said SSP Sidhu. Police said that further investigations are underway and more arrests are likely as the probe progresses.
