Searing heat persists in Haryana, Punjab; Sirsa hottest at 46°C

Hot weather conditions showed no signs of easing in Haryana and Punjab on Sunday, with Sirsa experiencing a maximum temperature of 46°C, the highest in the state, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Extreme heat also affected Rohtak and Bhiwani, which recorded maximum temperatures of 45.3°C and 44°C, respectively.

Hisar recorded a high of 43.8°C, Karnal 42.8°C, Ambala 42°C, while Gurugram clocked 41.7°C.

In Punjab, Bathinda sizzled at 44.6°C while Patiala registered a maximum of 42.8°C and Ludhiana 41°C. Ferozepur was close behind at 40.8°C and Amritsar’s high settled at 39.4°C.

Similar weather conditions are expected to persist for the next three days as the IMD has sounded an orange alert for heatwave to severe heatwave conditions at many places in the state till May 27.

However, rain relief is around the corner, with the weather department predicting thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds on May 28 and May 29.
