: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami on Thursday met the 92-year-old Sikh activist, who has been on a hunger strike for over seven years, seeking the release of Sikh prisoners lodged in different jails of the country.

Dhami met Surat Singh Khalsa at the DMC hospital in Ludhiana to enquire about his heath. Khalsa began his hunger strike in January 2015 and since he has not been taking food, the government got him admitted to the hospital, where he is fed with pipes.
Dhami said that justice has not been served to the Sikh prisoners for three decades.
Appreciating Khalsa’s determination, belief and courage, he said the SGPC affirmed his struggle and expressed commitment to continue the efforts initiated for the release of the prisoners. ENDS
