Teachers’ union demands inclusion of farm agitation in school syllabus

Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF), an association of government teachers, has demanded to include farm agitation against contentious agricultural laws in school syllabus. They claimed that the government had promised to include it in the syllabus but to no avail.

Vikram Dev Singh, state president of the union, said that the department had even promised to constitute a committee to look into the demand of inclusion of the farm struggle in the syllabus.
He said, “The farm struggle is the most important part in the modern history of Punjab, even of the country. Every aspect of Punjab was seen in this agitation. It got support and cooperation from all sections of society and Punjab. This mass movement has taught the world to fight peacefully for the democratic rights. Students will read about it and learn to rise above religion, caste, region and fight unitedly for their democratic rights.”
