Their families have been informed and bodies kept in the mortuary of GMSH-16 for identification and postmortem examination, the cop quoted above said.
The victims, aged 26 and 27, were residents of Chandrapur in Maharashtra and arrived in Chandigarh from Dehradun on Wednesday, the officer said, adding that investigators have found bus tickets in their pockets and recovered their travel bags containing Aadhaar cards and clothes.
“They had reached the Sector-43 bus stand on Wednesday morning. We are still probing if they stayed at some hotel nearby or came directly to the spot which is opposite the bus stand,” another officer said.
Families of both the men, the police said, had lodged missing person reports at their home town.
Their family members are expected to reach Chandigarh on Thursday and the autopsy will be conducted after identification of the bodies.
The Sector-36 police, under whose jurisdiction the site falls, have initiated inquest proceedings in the case.
