Police also found that the biological mother of the victim hadn’t followed legal procedure before handing over her daughter to the accused.
The police investigation also revealed that the real mother of the victim is a drug addict. The mother had given her daughter by signing an affidavit. The victim told police that her grandfather had raped her and also bit on her cheeks and neck, which made her miss school for three days.
The police produced couple before the court on Saturday. The court remanded the accused to one-day police custody.
The victim underwent medical examination at the civil hospital. She has been shifted to Children’s Home, run by Swami Ganga Nand Bhuri Wale International Foundation at Talwandi Khurd village, after the orders of the district Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
The police have been investigation to know if the mother had given the girl to the Ladhowal couple for money.
The accused couple had three sons who had died. According to them, they wanted a girl child so they had contacted the mother of the girl through mediators.
Kuldeep Mann, coordinator, Childline (1098), said the victim does not want to go back to her real mother.
He added that they will take care of her education.
The 11-year-old girl had accused her foster father for raping her for months and pushing her into prostitution on Friday.
The girl’s mother had given her for adoption after death of her father in July 2017. The girl had narrated the ordeal to the principal of the school, where she is studying in Class 6.
