New Delhi

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Delhi Police head constable, posted with the anti-narcotics cell in Dwarka, while accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh from an individual, the agency said on Wednesday.
The head constable was identified by his first name, Ajay, and taken into custody under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency said in a statement that it registered a case on April 21 against Ajay and other unknown persons based on a complaint from an individual alleging demand for “a bribe of ₹15 lakh” from the officer “for not falsely implicating her in a case”.
“It was further alleged that the accused head constable directed to deliver the part payment of ₹5 lakh by April 21. The CBI laid a trap on Tuesday and caught him red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹2 lakh as a part payment out of a total bribe of ₹15 lakh from the complainant,” the CBI said in the statement.
Further, CBI said, in a search of his office premises, it recovered ₹48.87 lakh in total.
