The Delhi Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly urinating on a gate in the departure area of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport’s Terminal 3 (T-3), officers aware of the matter said on Wednesday, adding that the suspect was drunk during the incident.

Deputy commissioner of police (IGIA) Ravi Singh said the man was identified as Jauhar Ali Khan, a resident of Bihar was to board a flight to Dammam city in Saudi Arabian on January 8, when he urinated at the gate and later began screaming at others waiting to enter the airport. Singh said the suspect was arrested after the incident and was released on a bail bond the same day.
“A control room call was received at around 5.30pm, stating that a man urinated publicly at gate number 6 at the departure area of T-3. Subsequently, a complaint from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was received at IGI Airport police station,” DCP said.
“He urinated at a public place among the passengers and visitors in front of the departure gate and created a nuisance by screaming and abusing other people,” said the officer.
Police said that after Khan was apprehended, he was examined at Safdarjung hospital, which confirmed that he was drunk . A case under sections 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at the IGI Airport police station and Khan was arrested. He was later released on a bail bond, the DCP said.

{{/usCountry}}The January 8 incident comes on the heels of two instances of inebriated passengers urinating in public on Air India flights.
In the first incident, a man, identified as Shankar Mishra allegedly urinated on a woman co-passenger in the business class of an Air India flight from New York to Delhi on November 26, 2022. In the second incident, on December 6, 2022, a flyer, who has not been identified, allegedly relieved himself on the seat and blanket of a woman co-passenger when she went to the lavatory.
