The Delhi government is likely to roll out the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana on Raksha Bandhan next month, under which eligible women in the Capital will receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500, officials familiar with the development said on Tuesday.

This was one of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s key promises ahead of the 2025 Delhi assembly elections.

“The scheme will be implemented through an online portal where applicants will have to register and upload documents, including proof of identity, income certificate and bank account details. The financial assistance will be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system after verification of eligibility,” an official explained.

While the final eligibility criteria has still not been confirmed, it is expected that the beneficiaries will include women residents of Delhi above 18 years of age who are not included in any other ongoing welfare schemes of the state government, including those related to pension and student welfare.

This was one of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s key promises ahead of the 2025 Delhi assembly elections. The Delhi government had approved the proposal earlier this year and earmarked ₹5,110 crore for its implementation in the 2026-27 Budget.

Officials said detailed operational guidelines, including the final eligibility criteria and the application process, will be notified along with the formal launch shortly.

The government is expected to issue a detailed notification before the scheme becomes operational, outlining the registration process, required documents and timelines for disbursal of the monthly assistance.
