An 18-year-old woman and her 20-year-old brother were waylaid on a road at Ali Vihar near Sarita Vihar in south Delhi on Sunday, abused and assaulted by at least three men, police said on Wednesday. The police filed a case of assault and criminal intimidation, and are trying to track the absconding accused.

After the assault, the three suspects are also alleged to have visited the victims’ house and issuing death threats to the woman and her family, the police said.

Police said they filed a case on Tuesday evening and recorded the statements of the injured siblings.

An investigator, asking not to be named, said that the siblings were on a motorcycle when the incident took place.

“On the way, three men waylaid them, hurled abuses and wrongfully restrained them. Upon objection, the accused pulled the two siblings down from their motorcycle, surrounded them, and physically assaulted the brother. The woman was also injured in the scuffle. The two managed to escape and reached home,” the officer said.

Police said they are yet to ascertain the reason behind the harassment and assault.
