Gurugram: Police on Thursday arrested a 28-year-old wanted criminal from West Bengal, who is allegedly involved in at least 24 robbery incidents in Gurugram and nearby areas. Police said he was carrying a reward of ₹5,000 for his arrest.

The suspect was identified as Sukhdev Baidya, police said, adding that he had been involved in criminal activities for the last seven years.
According to police, the suspect was involved in a theft case in Sector 57 in April 2019, where he allegedly ransacked a house and fled with cash and jewellery. He was arrested in August 2019 and was taken to Bardhaman in Bengal, where he had sold the jewellery, but he fled from police custody, police added.
Varun Dahiya, assistant commissioner of police (crime), said when police were tracking old cases, they received a tip-off regarding Baidya’s presence in Hooghly district of Bengal. “A police team left for Hooghly on June 26, and he was arrested from there.
