Lucknow The Yogi Adityanath government has invited French company Dassault Aviation, manufacturers of multi-role fighter jet Rafale, to take part in the Defence Expo scheduled to be held for the first time in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow from September 5 to 8.

A formal invitation was extended to the company by representatives of the state government at the Defence Expo held in London last month, said an official.

Apart from Dassault Aviation, the state government has also extended invitation to other major Defence companies, including Rolls Royce, Airbus, General Dynamics and Saab among others.

Industrial development minister Satish Mahana and principal secretary in the ministry Rajesh Kumar Singh were part of the delegation that went to London to attend the Defence Expo.

The 11th Defence Expo is slated to be the biggest till date in which Defence companies from all across the world and India will put up their stalls and showcase their weapons and defence-related equipment.

Sources said that at the London Expo around 100 big companies in the Defence sector had participated. Among the 100, the officials held meeting with around two dozen big companies and informed them about the defence corridor and even invited them to Uttar Pradesh to set up their units.

Of the two dozen companies, prominent ones included Dassault, Rolls Royce, Saab, General Dynamics and Airbus etc.

“We have invited Dassault Rafale and other big companies to take part in the Defence Expo. We are trying to rope in these companies to invest in the Defence Corridor project,” said Mahana.

The state government has also offered explosive testing facility to Defence companies at Babina, near Jhansi, in case they require any such facility.

Invite given at London expo

The delegation of the state government led by industrial development minister Satish Mahana went to London on a five-day visit on September 9 last. Others present in the delegation included Rajesh Kumar Singh, principal secretary, infrastructure and industrial development department, Amit Singh, special secretary to the chief minister, Lt General Jagdeep Kumar Sharma, who is senior advisor, defence corridor, UPEIDA and Mansoor Katiyar, regional manager, Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority

The delegation attended the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) in London. The DSEI is world leading event that connects governments, national armed forces and industry leaders and the global defence and security supply chain.

The delegation also had several meetings with representatives of Defence Companies and invited them to invest in the Uttar Pradesh’s leg of the Defence Corridor.
