Haj preparations: Slew of directives issued for smooth transit of pilgrims from U.P.

11,519 pilgrims of 40 districts to leave from Lucknow, another 2,595 pilgrims from 16 districts from Varanasi

As many as 11,519 Haj pilgrims of 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh will go for Haj from the Lucknow airport while 2,595 pilgrims from 16 districts will go to Haj from the Varanasi airport from May 21.

During a meeting held at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium, on Wednesday, Mohsin Raza, chairman, Uttar Pradesh State Haj Committee, said, “Officers of the additional district magistrate level will be nominated in-charge of Haj House complex. They will ensure round-the-clock presence of the executive magistrate in Haj House premises and the airport.

He directed the commissioner of police to ensure security related arrangements at the Haj House premises, Yatra route and airport. The Lucknow Police will nominate deputy commissioner of police/additional commissioner of Police as Nodal Officer. A gazetted police officer will remain present at the Haj House premises and airport round the clock.

Special parking arrangements will be made on the Lucknow-Kanpur Highway during the period of Haj. Only entry of vehicles carrying people with admit cards will be allowed on the Haj House premises.

Raza directed deployment of security personnel on buses carrying Haj pilgrims and also security personnel on trucks carrying their luggage to the airport.

To avoid any security threat, anti-sabotage checking will be done on the Haj House premises as per requirement. A fire brigade tender will remain present round the clock at the Haj House.

Raza directed the Lucknow Municipal Corporation to deploy at least 50 sweepers in three shifts for round-the-clock cleaning of toilets and premises of Haj House premises. LMC will also ensure spraying of insecticides, pesticides and fogging etc.

LMC will also arrange dustbins, install 60 KVA generator inside the Haj House, besides lighting up streets, cleaning of drains, ensuring water supply, cleaning of septic tanks, sewer, etc.

The health department was directed to establish a 12-bed permanent hospital on the Haj House premises where female and male doctors would be on duty 24X7.

The LESA GM was directed to ensure round-the-clock power supply on Haj House premises during the Haj season. A junior engineer and lineman under supervision of an assistant engineer will work exclusively for the Haj House.
