Alleging nonpayment, sanitation staff stop garbage-collection in Lucknow
Employees of Eco Green, the waste collection company, said that they were on strike as their dues were not being cleared for the last few months.
Door-to-door waste collection work in the state capital has stopped in many parts with almost all the employees of zone II on strike.

The work of waste collection is also partially affected in zone V and VIII.
Employees of Eco Green, the waste collection company, said that they were on strike as their dues were not being cleared for the last few months.
Leader of opposition in LMC house Sayyed Yawar Hussain Reshu said: “The situation of waste collection in the city has become very bad. Nonpayment of dues has become a permanent feature now. But why should the residents suffer due to this because they pay their service charges every month?”
Nagar Swasthya Adhikari S K Rawat said: “LMC has directed the local officials to clear the dues of employees on time. LMC is releasing payments on time.”
City’s environment engineer Sanjeev Pradhan said: “The company is not able to pick up the waste and dispose it to the landfill site. Problems have also been reported in zone V and zone VIII. One fails to understand why garbage-collection employees are not getting their dues on time as payments to the company are cleared timely.”
