Better law and order led to atmosphere of development in UP: CM
State government making special efforts for industrial development of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi says while addressing joint sitting of both houses of state legislature
LUCKNOW Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said improvement in the law and order situation had led to an atmosphere of development in Uttar Pradesh, which was now attracting investments.

He said the state government was making special efforts for industrial development of Uttar Pradesh.
Adityanath was addressing the joint sitting of both the houses of state legislature convened on the occasion of celebrations to mark 75 years of India’s independence. President Ram Nath Kovind was the chief guest on the occasion.
He said the UP legislature was probably the only legislature in the country that had the distinction of giving three Prime Ministers to India. The CM listed names of former Prime Ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chaudhary Charan Singh and Vishwanath Pratap Singh who, he said, were members of the state legislature.
Governor Anandiben Patel also said that the state legislature gave three Prime Ministers to the country while nine PMs represented the state in the parliament.
UP Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana referred to the recently concluded budget session, saying it was for the first time after many years that the proceedings of the state assembly were conducted without any adjournments. “I have worked in accordance with the dignity of this house,” said Mahana.
He said the 18th state assembly had 126 new members and there were 18 doctors, 15 engineers, eight managers while some of them had completed doctorate. There were 51 members in 25-40 years age group while 240 members were in 41-60 years age group. He said UP assembly had taken a lead in implementing the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) to make its proceedings paperless. “The President’s efforts will give us strength,” he said.
State legislative council Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Singh said there were people who were not aware about the contributions by freedom fighters. “Therefore, it was necessary to tell people about the same through the celebration of India’s independence,” he added.
Welcoming the President, leader of opposition and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said UP had made significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle. He said freedom did not have any meaning unless discrimination among people was removed.
Yadav said the SP government had worked for the modernization of state legislature and said everybody should make efforts to strengthen the present system. “Under the President’s guidance, India would strive for progress,” he said.
