End divisions on basis of caste, religion: Yogi
The lines of division on the basis of caste, region, religion and language have caused irreparable damage to UP. Ending these anomalies, we have to move forward with determination to make it stand in the category of the best state, says chief minister
LUCKNOW Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday urged people to put an end to divisions on the basis of caste, region, language and religion that had irreparably harmed the state, and make Uttar Pradesh the most prosperous state in the country.

“Divisive forces should be exposed and strict action will be taken to check corruption. We will work with Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat mantra,” said the CM after inaugurating, along with governor Anandiben Patel, the three-day ‘Uttar Pradesh Day’ celebrations at Avadh Shilpgram here.
The theme of this year’s UP Diwas is to establish the state as a destination of investment and employment, he said.
“UP is moving forward with pride and dignity. The lines of division on the basis of caste, region, religion and language have caused irreparable damage to UP. Ending these anomalies, we have to move forward with determination to make it stand in the category of the best state,” he said.
He said before 2017, UP was known as the state of riots and the hub of criminal activities. “But today, it is referred to as the hub of exports. This is the inspiring story of the brand new UP. New projects and schemes are being launched for the development of the state and welfare of people,” emphasised Adityanath.
“UP is playing an important role in realizing the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India the biggest economy and the most developed country in the world. The state has become a growth engine for the development of the country,” he added.
The CM said youngsters in UP who pursued graduation in social sciences, commerce and science would get the benefit of the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Scheme. Around 7.50 lakh youths would benefit under the scheme and get a fixed monthly honorarium.
“Now, with the assistance of the central government, youths doing BA, B Com and BSc will be brought under the ambit of the scheme. Organisations that have over 30 employees will have to enrol the students. The central and state governments will give fixed remuneration to these youths,” he said.
Adityanath said the UP planning department launched a Family Card to identify families getting benefits of the government schemes as well as those who were yet to get the benefits. “The aim is to ensure that the families that have been denied benefits of welfare schemes are brought under the ambit of government schemes in a mission mode,” he said.
Those getting the benefit of schemes will continue to get assistance from the state government, added the CM.
“Governor Anandiben Patel has launched six schemes for ODOP beneficiaries and Uttar Pradesh Notary Management website. The dashboard for Millet Promotion Scheme and Natural Farming has been launched by the state agriculture department,” said Adityanath.
Referring to the contribution of UP in the freedom struggle, the CM recalled the names of freedom fighters like Mangal Pandey, Rani of Jhansi, Bandhu Singh, Dhan Singh Kotwal and said that Gorakhpur’s Chauri Chaura incident and Lucknow’s Kakori Kand (conspiracy) were witnesses to the freedom struggle.
Naimisharanya of Sitapur is the base of India’s Vedic knowledge and it is also in UP, he said.
Giving credit to former governor Ram Naik for organising UP Day, Adityanath said: “I cannot forget that when the double engine government was formed in 2017, then governor Ram Naik reminded all of us that all the states have their own foundation day and organise it as their day, but UP does not. He (Naik) expressed the desire to organise it and in 2018 it was started.”
Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving UP the opportunity to host 11 programmes of G20, the CM said the programmes will be held in four cities including Lucknow.
“The Global Investors Summit (GIS) to be held between February 10 and 12 will pave way for investments of lakhs of crores of rupees in UP. Now, the youth here will not have to go to other countries and different states of the country for jobs and employment. A lot of opportunities will be available here. We have to be ready to welcome investors and entrepreneurs coming to UP,” he emphasised.
During the programme, 16 artists were given Vivekananda Youth Award by the youth welfare department. Five artisans and handicraftsmen associated with the Mati Kala Board were honoured with the Mati Kala Khadi Gramodyog Award whereas nine players were feted with the Laxman and Rani Laxmibai awards by the sports department. Three ‘divyangjan’ (physically challenged) players were also honoured on the occasion.
