Lord Ram laid foundation of social justice in India: Ex-U.P. minister
Speaking at an event in Lucknow, Ramapati Shastri said constitutional system of social justice and equality was the greatest gift from Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ramapati Shastri on Tuesday said Lord Shri Ram laid the foundation of social justice in India when he ate the berries offered by Shabri. After this, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay gave the concept of ‘Antyodaya’ to the society, he added.
Shastri also said the constitutional system of social justice and equality was the greatest gift from Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar. “Whatever further development is needed in this direction can be achieved only by following the path shown by Babasaheb,” he said.
Shastri, also a former U.P. minister, expressed these views while speaking at a daylong national seminar on ‘concept of social justice and its contemporary dimensions’ organised as part of ‘University Day’ celebrations at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow.
Shivendra V Sahi, professor, University of Science, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, who was the guest of honour, said the whole world is grappling with problems like social justice and inequality.
Discussing the challenges related to social justice in the context of the US such as racism and the problem of the minority population, he said the government there had established a federal funding system and special universities for such people.
He also highlighted the employment oriented education system being provided to the students as a result of which job opportunities are available to the students belonging to economically and socially backward classes immediately after their studies.
In his presidential address, vice chancellor Aacharya Sanjay Singh congratulated everyone on the ‘University Day’ saying on this day the university got recognition as a central university. He also threw light on the journey of the university which started after the foundation stone of the university was laid on April 14, 1989.
Discussing the theme of the seminar, he said, “We have to establish such a system of social justice and equality after which we would never have to talk about issues like social inequality in future. This can be possible only by following the path shown by Babasaheb.”
