Miffed over not doing household chores, UP woman shoots dead daughter-in-law
The incident happened when Komal, the daughter-in-law of Radhika Devi was asleep.
A woman was shot dead by her mother-in-law in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district on Tuesday, police said. Amroha Superintendent of Police Aditya Langeh told reporters that the accused, identified as Radhika Devi, allegedly killed her daughter-in-law Komal while she was asleep. According to the police, the accused was miffed over her daughter-in-law not doing household chores.

The preliminary investigation also suggests harassment over dowry and the difference in the status between the two families as a motive behind the murder, they added.
Radhika Devi, along with her husband and son, has been arrested in the case.
“The deceased's husband, Amit Kumar, and father-in-law Narendra Singh were also involved in the crime. Police have arrested the three and sent them to jail on Tuesday. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 498 (a), 323, 304b of IPC and Section ¾ of the Dowry Act based on a complaint by the deceased's mother, Geetah Devi,” Langeh said.
During interrogation, the woman Radhika Devi told police that she feared losing her son to her daughter-in-law, reported TOI. Komal and Amit got married one and a half years ago. After their marriage, the duo shifted to a separate house in the Ganganagar Mohalla of Gajraula. Komal allegedly made her husband do all the chores of the house and also banned her mother-in-law's entry to their residence.
Radhika Devi was furious over her actions and hatched a plan to kill her. She entered the couple's residence at a time when she was asleep and shot her in the forehead. She also ransacked the house to make it look like a case of robbery.
