LUCKNOW Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that the Rashtriya Raksha University’s (RRU) Amrit Kaushal Vikas Yojana – Suraksharth – had opened new avenues to empower the youth and make them self-reliant.

“For the first time in the country, the RRU is running security related training courses in accordance with the needs of society. The university is imparting training to private security guards and this would strengthen the security of private institutions, commercial establishments and educational institutions. It would also provide jobs to youths at local level,” stated the CM.
He was addressing a programme organised to mark completion of security guards’ certificate training course of 805 youths and Pradeshiya Raksha Dal (PRD) personnel of seven districts. The course was conducted under RRU’s Suraksharth.
He said India was consistently becoming stronger on internal and security front under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah.
Uttar Pradesh has more than 2,000 private security agencies and their number is growing consistently. “RRU is carrying out unique experiments for better training of security personnel. Training programmes would also have to be evolved keeping in view the trends of crime. The state government is setting up cyber labs in 18 police ranges to check cyber-crime,” he said.
UP had only four forensic labs in 2017, but now it has 12 such labs and six more were coming up in the state. Uttar Pradesh Institute of Forensic Sciences was being set up in cooperation with the RRU, stated Adityanath.
Those who attended the programme included minister of state (independent charge) for youth Girish Chandra Yadav, Rashtriya Raksha University vice-chancellor Bimal N Patel, additional chief secretary (home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi, DGP Devendra Singh Chauhan, ACS (youth welfare) Dimple Verma, ADG (law and order) Prashant Kumar and principal secretary (information) Sanjay Prasad.
Rashtriya Raksha University, the Gandhinagar-based central university was established by Parliament in 2020 to meet the need for trained manpower in policing, criminal justice and correctional administration.
