U.P.: Allahabad HC adjourns hearing in Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah case

The Allahabad high court on Monday adjourned the hearing of a petition seeking expeditious disposal of an application, pending before a Mathura court, for conducting an archaeological survey of Mathura Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah.

Justice VC Dixit adjourned the hearing on the petition filed by Bhagwan Shri Krishna Virajman and another till August 2 on the request of counsel for the petitioners. The court while adjourning the matter observed, “Learned counsel for the petitioners seeks adjournment for today. Put up as fresh on 02.08.2022 before appropriate Bench.”

The petition was filed in the high court seeking expeditious disposal of an application filed before a Mathura court in which a prayer was made to conduct an archaeological survey of the Mathura Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah. It was claimed in the application that the disputed complex was earlier a temple and that the Shahi Idgah mosque was built by demolishing the temple.
