Jaunpur police in Uttar Pradesh have set up a six-member team to find out the source of the AK-47 assault rifle that was recovered from dreaded criminal Satish Singh, 42, who was gunned down in Garwah village under Sarptahganj police station limits of Jaunpur district on Friday night.

“It (the recovery of the AK-47 rifle) is very astonishing and the local police are trying to find out its source,” said a senior police official privy to the investigation. He said raids were being conducted at the hideouts of Satish Singh’s accomplices.
He said the team was also scanning the mobile call details of the slain criminal’s aides in a bid to unearth their network. An absconding murder convict carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh, Satish was killed while his aide suffered injuries in an encounter with police in Jaunpur district on Friday.
