Woman, granddaughter found murdered in U.P.’s Meerut

An elderly woman and her minor granddaughter were found murdered at their home in ‘D’ Block of Shastri Nagar locality in Nauchandi area here on Sunday night, police said

An elderly woman and her minor granddaughter were found murdered at their home in ‘D’ Block of Shastri Nagar locality in Nauchandi area here on Sunday night, police said. The deceased were identified as Kaushal Sirohi, 65, and her granddaughter Tamanna, 12.

On getting information, inspector general (IG), Meerut range, Praveen Kumar; senior superintendent of police, Meerut, Rohit Singh Sajwan and other senior officials rushed to the spot. Their bodies were discovered by their domestic help on Monday morning, the SSP said. Sharp edged weapons were used in the killings, he added.

Circle officer, Civil Lines area, Meerut, Devendra Singh said police teams were on the spot and investigating the incident. “We are trying to ascertain the motive for the crime and further probe is under way,” the CO added.

Kaushal Sirohi’s husband Ratan Singh Sirohi was a retired head constable who died of cancer two months ago. Tamanna was daughter of Kaushal’s daughter Neha. Kaushal and Tamanna lived together after Neha’s second marriage. {With PTI Inputs}
