Uttar Pradesh energy minister AK Sharma on Tuesday said all the engineers of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) should work to improve the power system of the state and try to rectify any shortcomings without delay.

He expressed these views while addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Rajya Vidyut Parishad Junior Engineers’ Sangathan organised at Ravindralaya, Charbagh, in the state capital.

The minister asked the engineers to take the complaints of consumers seriously and make efforts to solve them immediately. “Proactive work has to be done to prevent accidents caused due to power supply. Only with a better and safe power system and 24X7 supply, we will be able to take the state towards a trillion-dollar economy,” Sharma added.

“No worker should die due to electrocution and there should be no negligence in this regard,” he said. The minister praised the important role of electrical engineers and asked them to use the knowledge acquired in this field with modern technology for the development of the country and the state and for the welfare of the people.

He said the engineers should ensure proper revenue recovery and at the same time should stop power theft. This year, power supply increased to 26000 MW. It was possible only with the help of engineers, he added.

Sharma said even when the entire country was closed during the lockdown, engineers ensured uninterrupted power supply with full dedication and hard work for which they deserved admiration. He said the demand and suggestion letters submitted by the organisation will also be considered.

Minister of state for energy Somendra Tomar, central chief of the organisation GV Patel, central general secretary Jai Prakash along with all the office bearers of the organisation were present at the event.
