Man held for stealing 2 vehicle batteries in Ludhiana

Police say accused is a serial thief, was traced on complaint of the owner of a transport firm

The police on Saturday arrested a miscreant and recovered two stolen vehicle batteries from his possession.

The accused was identified as Vipin Tara of Ganpati Colony. A case was registered against him on Friday based on the complaint of one Ramesh Kumar, who runs a transport company.

Kumar told the police that he had parked his vehicles in Phase 5 of Focal Point area on October 1 and when he checked the vehicles the next morning, the batteries were missing from two of them.

Inspector Amandeep Singh said a case was registered under Section 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the IPC and later, the accused was traced and arrested. “We have recovered those two stolen batteries. The accused is a serial thief. Therefore, we are also checking his past record,” he said.
