Vasai woman climbs 20ft electric tower after boyfriend refuses marriage: Police

The rescue operation lasted for more than four hours, with police and fire brigade personnel trying to persuade her to climb down

A woman on Sunday climbed an electric tower in Madhuban, Suraksha Smart City in Vasai east, Maharashtra.

According to the Waliv police, the woman, a resident of Vasai, climbed the tower to a height of over 20 feet following a fight with her boyfriend, who had allegedly refused to marry her.

The woman’s boyfriend immediately alerted the police and fire brigade, following which rescue personnel rushed to the spot.

The rescue operation lasted for more than four hours, with police and fire brigade personnel trying to persuade her to climb down.

Fire brigade officials subsequently carried out the rescue operation and brought the woman down on Sunday afternoon.

The Waliv police later took the woman and her boyfriend to the police station.
