16-yr-old shot dead by kin after intervening in dispute at sister’s wedding in Greater Noida

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Taves Yadav, a resident of Haibatpur village under the jurisdiction of Bisrakh police station

A 16-year-old boy was shot dead by one of his family members in Greater Noida, hours after he attempted to mediate a dispute between the latter and another family member at his sister’s wedding on Tuesday night, police officers associated with the case said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Taves Yadav, a resident of Haibatpur village under the jurisdiction of Bisrakh police station.

“A private hospital in Noida’s Sector 62 informed us about the death of a 16-year-old boy from a bullet wound in the chest. A police team was dispatched immediately to the scene,” said Rambadan Singh, deputy commissioner of police, Central Noida.

According to officers, the incident was the fallout of a dispute at Yadav’s sister Sheetal’s wedding on Tuesday night at the DF palace marriage home in Haibatpur village.

“At the wedding, Yadav’s maternal uncle Chhote Lal got into a heated argument and scuffle with another relative, known by his first name Dharmendra, who lives in Noida’s Parthala village. Yadav had intervened between the two to calm things down,” said Ramesh Pandey, assistant commissioner of police-2, central Noida.

According to officials, the reason for Lal and Dharmendra’s scuffle was due to Dharmendra’s drinking.

“Lal asked Dharmendra not to make a scene at the wedding because he appeared drunk. The family returned home after the wedding ceremony. Dharmendra waited outside Yadav’s house, continuing his drink. At 4.30am, when Yadav stepped out to get milk, Dharmendra fired one shot from his licensed revolver and fled the scene,” said Anil Kumar, station house officer of Bisrakh Police Station.

Yadav’s family rushed him to a private hospital in Noida, where he died from his injuries.

“The body has been sent for a postmortem, and a first information report has been registered against Dharmendra under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code based on Yadav’s father Charan Singh Yadav’s written complaint. Three teams have been formed to apprehend the suspect, who is on the run,” said the SHO.
