Dead cop booked after ₹80,000 found missing from Malkhana
Since the issue cropped up while he was in charge, the FIR was lodged naming him, assistant commissioner of police (Modinagar circle) Bhaskar Verma said
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police have booked a deceased head constable for criminal breach of trust after ₹80,000 were allegedly found missing from the Malkhana, a designated place meant for storing seized items, of the Bhojpur police station, officials said on Monday.

The police took cognizance of it during an inquiry by an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) and found that the money was allegedly taken out by the then Malkhana in-charge, head constable Gajendra Singh, for investigations. But there was no account available of the money in the form of any documentary for expenditure on investigations, the FIR stated.
“An FIR was registered against the then head constable… after ₹80,000 went missing from the Malkhana and no records were available... The then head constable passed away on March 19, 2024. Since the issue cropped up while he was in charge, the FIR was lodged naming him,” assistant commissioner of police (Modinagar circle) Bhaskar Verma told HT.
The present in-charge informed the officials about the issue, and an FIR was registered on Sunday under section 316(5) (criminal breach of trust) at Bhojpur police station, said Verma said.
Officials said that an investigation is underway.
