Akhilesh meets former Gujarat CM; talks Oppn unity ahead of LS polls

LUCKNOW Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav met former Gujarat chief minister Shankar Singh Vaghela in Lucknow on Wednesday and discussed with him the prevailing political situation and possibilities of opposition’s unity ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

According to a Samajwadi Party press release, Vaghela, who founded the Rashtriya Janata Party, said that the SP would play an important role in in 2024 Lok Sabha elections and challenge the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
Yadav, who attended a meeting of opposition’s parties in Patna earlier this month, has been talking about the PDA formula -- an abbreviation for Pichde (Backward), Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (minority) -- to defeat the BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He has maintained that his party has always been true to the alliances be it the SP’s alliance with the Congress in 2017 assembly elections or with the BSP in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
