College student stabbed to death in Pratapgarh
Victim’s kin blocked Patti-Pratapgarh road over the incident and demanded action against the accused. Police said raids were being conducted to arrest those named in connection with the incident.
A 17-year-old intermediate student was stabbed to death allegedly by another student over a petty dispute in Kandhai area of Pratapgarh district on Wednesday morning.
Victim’s kin blocked Patti-Pratapgarh road over the incident and demanded action against the accused. Police said raids were being conducted to arrest those named in connection with the incident. Some local residents claimed that the victim and the accused both studied at the same coaching institute and didn’t enjoy good relations.
Circle Officer, Patti, Dilip Singh reached the spot and pacified the protestors.
“The youth’s kin have given complaint against two persons, including one unidentified . Efforts are now on to arrest the suspects,” Singh said.
Police said the victim studied at an intermediate college. He had also enrolled at a coaching center in Veermau area where he had gone on Wednesday morning.
According to preliminary information gathered by the police, two youths on a bike arrived at the institute. They called the victim outside and stabbed him.
The assailants fled after the attack while the victim was rushed to a nearby community health centre (CHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
