Meja police arrested one Vivek Mishra on Wednesday for brutally killing his sister over a love affair in Isauta village under Meja police station on Monday morning.
SHO of Meja police station, inspector Gyaneshwar Mishra said the body of 20-year-old Priya Mishra was found in her home on Monday morning with deep injury marks.
The family members claimed that their neighbor Niraj Pandey killed Priya after she refused to meet him. Earlier, police had registered an FIR against the woman’s boyfriend on complaint of woman’s father.
However, during investigations it was found that woman’s kin were involved in her murder. Police rounded up Priya’s brother Vivek for questioning during which he confessed to his crime, police said.
Vivek informed the police that Priya had an affair with Niraj who was already married. Priya used to talk to Niraj over mobile phone despite repeated warnings by Vivek. On Sunday night, Vivek again spotted his sister talking to Niraj and assaulted her with an axe multiple times resulting in her death on the spot. Vivek then tried to hide the evidence from the spot.
SHO further said that the axe used in the crime has also been recovered, SHO added.
