Following relaxation in the norms of Covid-19, the authorities of North Central Railway (NCR) have resumed the facility of providing linen in all 62 trains being operated between its different stations. The passengers are now being given bed rolls comprising blankets, pillows and bed sheets along with facility of curtains.

The maximum impact of the Corona period was on the railways. The restrictions were such that it took a long time to gradually restore the facility of linen in the trains.
After imposing the ban on providing the facility in AC coaches, passengers had no other option but to carry their own bedsheets, pillows, quilts etc to make their journey comfortable.
“Providing linens in AC classes had to be stopped as a preventive measure in view of the pandemic. The process of its resumption is in operation all over India, in a phased manner. As soon as instructions were issued from Railway Board, the NCR started restoration from Prayagraj Express on March 11 and in Shram Shakti express from March 12. Now all NCR owned trains are being provided with linens and curtains,” said chief public relation (CPRO), NCR, Shivam Sharma.
The passengers can check the status of linen supply or whether they would be provided the same in the train in which they are travelling by clicking on the link http://contents.irctc.co.in/en/LINEN.html.
In 62 trains of NCR, the facility of bedrolls, blankets, sheets, pillows, towels etc is being provided.
“We have provided new curtains in many trains. Linen and curtains are being provided in 58 trains and only curtains in four trains of Prayagraj, Agra and Jhansi divisions. The facility was stopped in two trains operating from Agra but now it has also been restored,” the CPRO said.
The laundry, located at the railway colony near Chowk, has the capacity of providing around 18,000 linens per day along with around 7,000 blankets and around the same numbers of pillows. There are three washing machines at the facility, each with 150 kilogram of washing load. Besides, there are two calendaring machines, a huge 60kg capacity tumbler and one drycleaner.
