Police start verification of attached properties of ex-MP Atiq
The total worth of properties that were attached in first tenure of the BJP government in the state is estimated to be ₹350 crore.
Police are now carrying out verification of the attached properties worth around ₹350 crore of mafiosi-turned-politician and former MP Atiq Ahmad and his associates to check if there were attempts to grab and trespass them. The total worth of properties that were attached in first tenure of the BJP government in the state is estimated to be ₹350 crore.

Earlier, a case had been registered for trying to grab some attached properties of Atiq and his aide Mohd Muzzaffar.
After such attempts came to fore, IG Range Rakesh Kumar Singh has issued instructions to start a drive for verification of such properties. A team has been constituted which will carry out a survey and verification of properties. Even if someone has removed the notice boards, action will be ensured against him.
Singh said joint teams of PDA and police took action against Atiq Ahmad and his gang members and attached their properties worth ₹350 crore. The action is being continued on the instructions of the government.
Meanwhile, police learnt that notice board on the attached property of Atiq’s relative and block pramukh Mohd Muzzaffar has been removed. Puramufti police registered an FIR against Muzzaffar and another person in this connection. Other attached properties are also being verified to see if any attempts were made to grab them, IG added.
It is worth mentioning that Atiq’s properties were earlier attached under Gangster Act during BSP regime in 2007. His properties worth several crores were attached. However, after the government changed, Atiq got his properties released through the court while claiming that they were earned through legal means.
