Sangam city celebrates Netaji’s birth anniversary with fervour

Officers and employees of all stakeholder departments of road safety, NGOs, voluntary organisations, social organisations, NSS, NCC and Scout Guide students and civil defence officials and personnel and representatives participated in this human chain.

As the entire nation celebrated the 126th birth anniversary of the renowned freedom fighter and popular leader Subhas Chandra Bose, denizens of Sangam city, district administration, education institutions and different social and cultural organisations too joined in the celebrations on Monday.

In an event organised at Subhas crossing at Civil Lines, students from classes 8 to 12 of 29 different schools and higher education institutions of the city participated. A message about road safety too was given by forming a human chain by these students. Officers and employees of all stakeholder departments of road safety, NGOs, voluntary organisations, social organisations, NSS, NCC and Scout Guide students and civil defence officials and personnel and representatives participated in this human chain.

The human chain was formed from around the Subhas crossing and the routes leading to all four directions i.e., to All Saints Cathedral, MLN Medical College, CORE office and SP road. District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri garlanded the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose and after that, the programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

At an event held at Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), the important contribution of ‘Netaji’ to the Indian freedom struggle was remembered by offering flowers to the picture of Subhas Chandra Bose.

On this occasion, the road safety month programme, directed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, was also organised. On this occasion, a human chain was formed by all the officers and employees under the programme.

At Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir, the day was observed as Prakaram Diwas. Students and teachers of the school remembered Netaji and paid homage to this great leader. The secretary of the school Krishna Gupta said that Netaji was a captivating orator whose words fuelled Indians with patriotism. He was an enthusiastic, disciplined, selfless and inspiring leader with strong confidence in his own capability and a clear goal of independence.

Likewise, the protesting student leaders of Allahabad university too paid homage to Netaji.

At MPVM Ganga Gurukulam students of classes 1 to 10 performed various activities expressing the valour of the great leader and even students of Class 4 and 5 participated in a Quiz based on Netaji. Children of class 6 and 7 presented slogans and made a collage on Netaji while students of class 8 dramatised an inspiring incident of his life. The students of classes 9 and 10 presented an elocution and group discussion on stage to celebrate the birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose. Principal Madhuri Srivastava said celebrating these days is aimed at instilling values in students and encouraging rational thinking among the youth as the future of our country.

At an event organised at the site of the hunger strike, student leader Ajay Yadav ‘Samrat’ explained that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose ignited the flame of revolution among the youth and liberated the country, so today all protesting students pledge their support to our cause. The student leaders are demanding the restoration of the student union, rolling back the fee hike, and dismissal of AU’s vice-chancellor.
