PUNE A 23-year-old man on a two-wheeler was killed after getting hit by a speeding truck on Thursday evening in Pune.

The deceased man was identified as Subhan Jafir Shaikh, 23, a resident of Umrikala area of Muradabad area of Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened at 7:30pm on Thursday near Dharmavat Petrol pump in Pisoli area near Kondhwa, said officials.

The arrested man was identified Mukhtar Amin Shaikh, 35, a resident of Aurangabad. The driver of the truck was over speeding and rammed into the two-wheeler, causing Shubhan Shaikh to fall. The truck then ran over him, killing him instantly, according to the police.

A case under Sections 279 and 304(a) of Indian Penal Code and Sections 184 of Motor Vehicle Act was registered at Kondhwa police station. Assistant police inspector Samadhan Patil is investigating the case.
