Controlled blasting at Kharadi construction site goes awry, 1 killed, 3 injured
During investigation it was found that the contractor and his team did not taken proper precautions while blasting activity
A 23-year-old worker died during controlled blasting activity at a construction site in Kharadi on Thursday, said officials.

According to Police, Kadir Reman Sheikh (23) resident of labour camp Kharadi was working at the construction site of Planeej Construction Private Limited. As part of the work, Sheikh was deployed at a site where controlled blasting was scheduled. During the blast, a stone hit Sheikh’s ribs.
Noresh Manu Chaudhari (50) and two other women labourers were also injured in the incident.
Immediately after the incident, injured workers were shifted to a nearby hospital where Sheikh was declared dead. Chaudhari sustained a fracture to his shoulder bone, said police officials.
According to police, work of controlled blasting has been given to Sachin Dilip Atpadkar. The mishap occurred when the controlled blasting took police.
Sidhanath Khandekar, assistant police inspector said, “As soon as the incident happened,our team rushed to the spot and offered necessary help. During investigation it was found that the contractor and his team did not taken proper precautions while coding blasting, hence we have booked them under relevant sections.’’
The Chandanagar police have booked contractor Schin Dilip Atpadkar, his worker Gautam Mandal and Dipak Marskole
A case under sections 404 (a) (Causing death by negligence), 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), 337 (Whoever causes hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life), 338 (Causing grievous hurt by an act which endangers human life), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered and further investigation is underway.
