5-year-old girl struck by bike, thrown under garbage truck in Pune; dies
The child was declared dead at a Nigdi hospital after police detained the garbage truck driver and his aide following the fatal collision.
A five-year-old girl was killed after a two-wheeler hit her throwing her directly into the path of a garbage collection truck, which then ran over her. The incident occurred at 12:10 pm at Sainathnagar, Nigdi.

The deceased was identified as Sanskruti Bhagwat Biradar, a resident of Audumber Society. A Mahindra Supro reportedly collecting garbage hit a two-wheeler parked on the roadside, which then struck the 5-year-old.
Mahesh Bansode, senior inspector at Nigdi police station, said, “According to preliminary information, the impact caused the two-wheeler to hit Sanskruti, resulting in her falling under the garbage collection vehicle where she sustained serious injuries.”

Sanskruti was rushed to Lokmanya Hospital in Nigdi, where doctors declared her dead.
Following the incident, police detained the garbage collection vehicle along with its driver Rahul Pralhad Chavan (28), a resident of Chikhali, and his associate, Raju Kumar Gaikwad (38), a resident of Nigdi’s Ota Scheme.

Police said they have initiated the process of registering a case against the driver and his aide.
