MSRTC to enhance pax safety, convenience at ST stands: Siya
His appointment follows the suspension of senior and junior depot officials at Swargate after a recent assault on a woman at the stand
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will take measures to improve passenger convenience and safety at state transport (ST) stands in Pune’s central areas, including Swargate, Wakdewadi, and Baramati, said newly appointed Pune divisional controller Arun Siya. After assuming charge on Tuesday, Siya inspected the Swargate and Wakdewadi ST stands to assess facilities and operational challenges.

His appointment follows the suspension of senior and junior depot officials at Swargate after a recent assault on a woman at the stand. Former division controller Pramod Nehul was also transferred in the wake of the incident.
On Wednesday morning, Siya reviewed passenger amenities, crowd management, and security measures. He later held discussions with officials from 14 depots, including drivers, conductors, and union representatives, to address operational concerns.
“New buses will be introduced in Pune division’s fleet to enhance passenger safety and convenience. Traffic congestion outside several ST stands has been affecting schedules, causing delays and inconvenience. To improve services, special planning will be undertaken. Additional CCTV cameras will be installed, cleanliness and security will be enhanced, and a dedicated monitoring unit will be set up in coordination with local police. Immediate action will be taken in this regard,” Siya said.
